Every month is Texas wine month at Texas Wine and Trail, but October is the officially celebrated Wine Month in Texas. WINE OF THE MONTH

Our Wine of the Month for Texas Wine Month is the Perissos Vineyards 2013 Tempranillo. Texas wine enthusiasts know that the Tempranillo varietal has become an incredible grower and shower, receiving some of the highest wine medals for the state. Wine judges and industry professionals have suggested Tempranillo is our “state grape” since it, along with Viognier have had such success in the vineyard, in consumer consumption and in competitions. The Perissos Vineyards 2013 Estate Tempranillo has won many coveted medals including Gold at the 2015 TEXSOM International Wine Competition held in Dallas, and Gold at the highly respected 2015 San Francisco International Wine Competition.

This blend of Perissos Vineyards estate Spanish and Portuguese grape varietals are Tempranillo (90%) and Touriga (10%).

Tasting Notes: Black fruits, tobacco, cassis and olives on the nose. The medium-bodied palate offers dark fruits and black olives that contrast with the tannins on the finish.
